The Waves of the Sea Help Me Get Back to Me

Recently, on a weekend trip to Cape Cod with my two beautiful daughters, we stayed in a quaint motel on the beach in a lovely two-bedroom suite. My room contained a painting that resembled the eye chart that you read when you go to the ophthalmologist to get your eyes checked – you know…

and the letters get smaller and smaller as you squint to read more. Except, the words in this painting were unforgettable and moved me to write and share with you.

I am an ocean girl. I have always been at home with the sea and often find myself lost in the sound, the waves, and in the sun glistening on the water as it moves through the clouds.   I can sit for hours staring at the ocean whether by boat or simply sitting in a chair on the beach with my toes running through the soft sands.

The water is mesmerizing and becomes my sublime meditation. A place for me to rest, think and rejuvenate. A watery expanse to ponder my hopes and dreams or simply get lost in the sound of the waves crashing against the shore or lapping at the hull of the boat.

The sea truly does bring me back to me.
