What is Reiki?

Reiki is an unfamiliar word to so many people so I am going to give you the “Wendy” version of what Reiki means to me. A wonderful man by the name of Mikao Usui discovered the practice of Reiki in Japan and the definition is Universal Life Force Energy (Rei = Universal Life Force and Ki = Energy). In China, you will find energy called Chi and in India it is Prana. Anyway, it’s all energy, which is what we are made up of and what the world is made up of. Think of Benjamin Franklin discovering electricity using the lightning bolt, the stars in the universe, the energy in the ground under your feet, the battery in your watch – it’s fascinating!
Getting back to Reiki, our bodies are made up of lots of different energy centers, which correspond to many of your important organs down the center of your body from the crown of your head to the bottom of your feet. Sometimes, these energy centers become blocked by life’s day-to-day jumble and what Reiki does is clear and balance all of your energy centers to bring you to your best and highest good, and I can attest to this because since I discovered Reiki, I have become a better and stronger me and I am eternally grateful for the introduction to this life-changing practice.
Life is busy and sometimes it is difficult to relax and unwind. Reiki connects to your mind, body and spirit and helps you sleep better, think better, relaxes you, makes you heal faster and can be used along with any medical treatment that you are currently using. Reiki is also very beneficial for children and animals. Did you know that Reiki is offered at many hospitals now, and that many of the doctors and nurses are trained in Reiki?
Now you are wondering what a Reiki treatment is like, right? It’s a non-invasive treatment where the Reiki practitioner places their hands in specific positions along the meridian center of your body, you stay fully clothed, you listen to beautiful music and when the treatment is over you will feel incredibly calm, balanced and wonderful. Are you ready to begin?
